FICA, RICA, and related notices

FICA (Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001)
Where we open finance, rent-to-own, or certain business accounts, we may have to establish and verify identity before we proceed — FICA and the rules that sit under it. We will ask for what the law requires (typically identity document, proof of address, and for a company the CIPC and beneficial-ownership papers). If we cannot complete that, we will not activate the facility. We do not use this site to collect FICA packs in the open; accounts will tell you how to send them.
RICA (Regulation of Interception of Communications Act 70 of 2002)
A SIM, LTE/5G service, or a number we issue must be RICA’d to the person who will use it before it goes live. We cannot skip that. Bring the identity document and proof of address the Act requires, or complete RICA with the network as they instruct. Number porting follows the same identity rules.
Other frameworks we work under
Electronic Communications Act 36 of 2005 and ICASA licence conditions on the networks we terminate through. VAT Act 89 of 1991 on invoices. Consumer Protection Act on quality and disclosures. ECT Act on this electronic store. POPIA and PAIA as on the other legal pages. Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020 — we will report clear offences. We are Cape Town based; South African law governs, and the courts of the Western Cape have jurisdiction, without taking away any non-excludable consumer forum.
